Gladys Balderama, M.D.

I was born in the Philippines, but grew up in Northern California and studied Biological Sciences at UC Davis. I knew I wanted to become a primary care physician even before I applied to medical school. I was inspired by my father, who was a primary care physician in a rural area in the Philippines, and instilled in me a sense of curiosity, especially in science. I was also inspired by my mother, the most selfless person I know, and who taught me about compassion, generosity, and humility. I became a physician because of the belief that preventative medicine, health education, and managing chronic health conditions are the most effective ways for people to lead long and healthy lives. I consider practicing medicine to be a privilege, believe that each person deserves individualized care, and that doctors should be partners in health, not dictators.

Dr. Balderama enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants and organizing.
