Jennifer Lai, M.D.

My life's journey has taken me across our country, in the pursuit of knowledge to best serve my patients. I was born and raised in San Francisco and attended Lowell High School in San Francisco and University of California at Davis. I graduated college early to pursue a fellowship on the East Coast at the National Institutes of Health studying Alzheimer's disease. I returned home to the Bay Area to work at Genentech in the field of epidemiology, finding ways to apply biotechnology to serve the greatest good. I then headed to the Midwest where I attended medical school.

I was drawn to the field of Internal Medicine for its emphasis on caring for adults through humanism and dedication to the education of patients, peers and ourselves as physicians. Long-term therapeutic relationships with my patients are the most rewarding aspect of my career as a physician. My goal is to keep my patients healthy through yearly health maintenance and prevention exams, managing a variety of chronic conditions (including allergies, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, arthritis, depression) and seeing more acute issues that arise. My particular areas of interest include nutrition, allergy and preventative medicine. I perform various procedures, including PAP smears, joint injections, and others for various skin conditions.

I am honored to serve on many committees within PAMF working to improve the care our organization provides to our patients and community. I am also excited to be involved in PAMF's Executive Health Program, coordinating care for busy executives. I truly enjoy my life's work as a physician and feel privileged to be able to connect with each of my patients on a personal level. I look forward to partnering with you to optimize your health and well-being.

Dr. Lai is married and stays busy raising two children and finding time for running, international travel, reading and gourmet cooking.
