Surgery

Better equipment, better outcomes, thanks to the very best donors.

Medical technology constantly expands what’s possible in the surgical suite, making possible less invasive procedures, faster recoveries and more effective results. Your gift has brought transformative technology to our Sutter Health affiliates.

Sutter Amador Hospital

  • Surgical endoscopy equipment cart: These handy carts, while seemingly unimpressive, accommodate facility needs. Their varying sizes and flexible arrangements are designed to suit multiple surgical specialties.
  • Surgical services bipolar cautery: Electrosurgery makes use of high-frequency electrical current to cut tissue and can be performed using either monopolar or bipolar-energy in conjunction with a specialized instrument. Each of these two modalities has specific advantages. By investing in new, state-of-the-art technology that supports our doctors and staff, we offer the most advanced procedures and quality outcomes to our patients.
  • Surgical services retractor: These instruments thoroughly hold wounds or incisions for surgeons and keep the site open during procedures.

Sutter Davis Hospital

  • Surgical System 8 + Bone Power Sets: Advanced tools like these are developmed between orthopaedic surgeons and hospital staff to deliver modern solutions to the complex challenges of today’s healthcare environment.

Sutter Roseville Medical Center

  • SRI, PACU, Surgery and Med Surg. bladder scanners: The catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) is a common and costly problem for hospitalized patients. Hospital staff help prevent these by using bladder scanners at the bedside to prevent costly and invasive procedures, such as unnecessary catheterization.
  • Surgical Services gamma probes: Surgeons often find it difficult to locate tissues, such as tumors, parathyroid glands, and lymph nodes within the human body, and use these probes to help locate them.
  • Surgical Services long resection cystoscope: Small surgical tools can be put through a cystoscope to remove stones, burn off small growths, or take small samples of tissue for a biopsy.
  • Surgical Services Savi Scout Equipment: Before this technology was available, patients who had to undergo breast surgery would typically have a wire inserted into their breast on the same day as the procedure. This was used to guide surgeons to the location of the lesion to be removed. Not only did this mean a patient had to undergo two procedures on the same day, but the wire also physically stuck out of the breast, causing patients undue stress and discomfort. With this device, which is no larger than a grain of rice, is inserted days or weeks prior to surgery. On the day of surgery, surgeons use a handheld instrument that sends a transmission to the device inside the breast and guides them to the tumor. This reduces surgical time, cuts down on patient anxiety and spares healthy tissue during breast surgery.

Robotic surgery: Philanthropy helps us put the very best tools in the hands of clinicians, such as the Navio and daVinci systems. These robotic devices assist surgeons in planning and performing complex, minimally invasive procedures.
