Family Medicine Residency
Master the full spectrum of family medicine through real-world, community-anchored residency training. Here, we advance healthy outcomes for communities with limited access/resources.

Full spectrum Family Medicine. Guided by empathy. Grounded in community.
Become a part of one of the oldest Family Medicine Residency programs in the country, training primary care physicians in Santa Rosa since 1938. We are committed to providing comprehensive health care to our community and its families through all phases of life, from birth to death and every moment in between. We are proud of our dedication to communities with limited access/resources or communities/stakeholders with gaps in health outcomes. We are interested in residents who aim to develop skills in cultural mindfulness and underserved medicine as an integral component of their career development. We prioritize understanding how psychological, social, and systems issues impact health, illness, and healing.
After nearly a century of educating community physicians, Family Medicine thrives in Sonoma County. When you come here, you will see Family Physicians throughout the county bringing a truly broad scope of practice to the communities they serve. Our graduates provide high-risk perinatal care, hospital medicine, HIV care, abortions, pediatrics, health care system leadership, integrative medicine for the communities with limited access/resources or communities/stakeholders with gaps in health outcomes, gender affirming care, addiction medicine, hospice, street medicine, global health, and more.
Your training will be further enhanced by working with SSRRH Integrative Medicine and Addiction Medicine fellows and faculty. Additional training tracks for residents during their three years include the advanced track in Reproductive Health Procedures (CREATE) and the HIV Residency Pathway. Planning is also underway for a Rural Training Track.
