Addiction Medicine Fellowship

Our longitudinal curriculum in Addiction Medicine has expanded over the past five years as our community has been impacted by the national opioid epidemic. It is a priority for our program to graduate residents who are comfortable managing patients with substance use disorder in all settings: ambulatory, inpatient, obstetric, and in the community.

Training takes place in both inpatient and outpatient settings across Sonoma County's safety-net systems. Particular focus is devoted to the care of patients experiencing homelessness with embedded continuity clinics and street medicine work with this demographic. Fellows spend substantial time caring for patients in the acute hospital setting, both attending on the inpatient adult medicine service and providing addiction medicine consultation for patients in the emergency department and inpatient units. Fellows will leave with a nuanced understanding of the individual and societal risks fueling addiction and empowered with tools to lead system change in underserved settings.

Living in Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa, located just 55 miles north of San Francisco, is in the heart of wine country! While many residents choose to live near the office or hospital, many find homes in the nearby cities of Healdsburg, Sebastopol, Rohnert Park, Cotati, and Petaluma. Each city has its own unique qualities and activities to enjoy. No matter where you are, you’ll find yourself a short drive away from the coast and the Russian River.
