California Pacific Medical Center
Health Psychology Fellowship
The 12-month CPMC Health Psychology Fellowship offers five positions at California Pacific Medical Center, where fellows provide psychological services to patients and families coping with medical illness.

Integrated Health Psychology Training
The CPMC Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology provides advanced training to fulfill California licensure requirements. As an Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) member, we equip fellows with the specialized skills needed to serve as integral members of interdisciplinary medical teams.
Collaborate with field experts as you treat diverse patient populations and develop the clinical skills, professional behaviors and ethics for your independent practice. By integrating psychological theory into patient care, you’ll learn to perform assessments, therapy and consultations, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based methods to enhance patient care. Our partnerships with CPMC medical programs provide opportunities to work with cancer, cardiology, GI and OB-GYN patients and their families in well-integrated interdisciplinary settings.

Jeremy E. Bornstein, Ph.D. - Program DirectorThe orientation of our fellowship program is grounded in an integrative approach that incorporates biopsychosocial, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, systems and other perspectives. We seek interns with a strong interest in developing the knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent, evidence-based treatments to a diverse patient population and their families.

Expert Guidance
Our program emphasizes supervision and mentorship. You’ll receive individual and group supervision, working with a primary supervisor for one-on-one guidance and additional supervisors based on your track and rotation schedule. Six core faculty members and 12 adjunct faculty members provide teaching and supervision covering clinical case management, professional development and preparation for licensure. You’ll also have access to interdisciplinary consultation, providing a broader perspective on patient care.

Immersive Clinical Experiences
Provide consultation, assessment, targeted behavioral interventions, and individual and group psychotherapy to a diverse array of adult patients as part of an interdisciplinary team. In addition to a 12-month specialization track in either Psycho-Oncology or Perinatal Mental Health, Fellows complete clinical rotations in Behavioral Cardiology, Neurogastroenterology, Palliative Care Communication Skills and Collaborative Assessment.

Expanding Knowledge With Didactics
In addition to clinical training, our fellowship program includes a robust schedule of didactic training to support the clinical learning experience. These include seminars, case conferences, interdisciplinary team meetings, staff trainings and grand rounds. Additional didactics are available through our fully accredited psychiatry residency training program.
