Prerequisites

Applicants must complete a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited program as well as a pre-doctoral internship from an APA- or CPA-accredited program.  We will consider international applicants with a valid F-1 student visa.  All prerequisites must be met prior to the start of the fellowship year.

Application Procedure

To apply prior to the deadline, you must submit your materials through the APPIC post-doc portal (APPA CAS).  Your application will not be considered complete until all supporting documents have been received. The deadline for submitting a completed application is January 2nd and the APPA CAS portal will be closed at midnight EST.  A completed application contains the following supporting documents:

  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Official transcripts from your doctoral program
  • Sample evaluation or assessment report (de-identified)
  • Three letters of reference (at least two from clinical supervisors and including one from your internship training director or primary supervisor)
  • Cover letter that speaks to the following:
    • Your experience working in health psychology settings
    • Why you’re applying to our training program
    • Preference for Specialization Track in Psycho-Oncology or Women’s Mental Health and interest in our Clinical Rotations.
    • Your goals for the post-doctoral training year
    • Your short- and long-term career ambitions

If you have not defended your dissertation, please include a letter from your dissertation chair or faculty advisor that confirms anticipated completion prior to the start of fellowship.  If your dissertation has been defended, please include the date of defense in your CV or cover letter.

Selection Process

We adhere to APPIC guidelines regarding the application, interview and selection process.  Once completed applications have been reviewed, invitations to attend one of our Interview Days will be sent via email by January 15th. Interview Days involve a series of interviews with faculty and our current fellows and are held during the months of January and February.

Once the APPA CAS portal has closed, please email any questions about applications directly to Dr. Bornstein. After the APPIC Common Hold Date has passed, any remaining positions will be filled on a rolling basis.
