Orthopedic care that keeps you moving

Pain from an orthopedic condition can put your life on pause. At Sutter, you’ll find a care team focused on where you are now and supporting your recovery.

Personalized orthopedic treatment

Your care team takes the time to explain your diagnosis and treatment options and understand your goals. Together, you’ll build a treatment plan centered on your needs.

For some orthopedic injuries and conditions, nonsurgical treatment may be the first step — or all you need. Your care team will walk you through options that may include:

  • Physical therapy and rehabilitation services: Therapists can help you build strength, improve range of motion, correct imbalances and reduce your risk of injury.
  • Injections and medications: Depending on your condition, injections such as corticosteroid or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may help relieve symptoms. Anti-inflammatory medications may also help reduce swelling and pain.
  • Immobilization and support: Your orthopedic specialist may recommend a sling, brace, cast, orthotic shoe insert or other device to support and stabilize the injured area.

Advanced orthopedic care nearby

With more than 100 orthopedic and sports medicine centers and 18 sports injury and rehabilitation locations, you can find orthopedic care close to home.

Rehabilitation and recovery after surgery

Preparing before orthopedic surgery and following your rehabilitation plan afterward can support your recovery. Your plan may include physical therapy, pain management and changes at home to help you move safely.

Prepare your home for recovery

If surgery is part of your treatment plan, preparing your home ahead of time can make recovery easier. Before surgery:

  • Arrange for someone to stay with you and help as needed
  • Rearrange furniture so you can safely navigate your home
  • Stock your kitchen with easy-to-prepare meals
  • Ask your care team whether you’ll need adaptive devices such as a shower stool or raised toilet seat
