Quality Care
At Sutter, we're constantly striving to improve patients’ health, and we're proud of our top honors in patient outcomes and high-quality, safe care. We aim to provide the best, most affordable care to the people in the communities we serve.

Affordability
We want to make the highest quality of care affordable for everyone. We’re working hard to continually implement procedures and programs that improve the quality of care we give, which also improves efficiency and reduces costs. By eliminating unnecessary tests and treatments, reducing hospital-acquired infections, streamlining business functions and more, we’re making the highest standard of care less expensive. Our integrated approach increases the quality of care we provide and will continue to help make our services more affordable.
Accessibility
By adding more physicians, care teams and sites, we’re increasing our ability to care for more patients and making it easier to access high-quality care. We’re actively striving to care for more people throughout California by adding new care centers and growing our medical residency programs and academic partnerships. Our electronic ICU (eICU) — the first of its kind on the West Coast and only the second eICU in the nation — has supported thousands of patients across our system. The expansive telemonitoring program ensures intensive care unit patients in large cities and small towns have 24/7 access to specialty doctors.
Safety
Your safety is our top priority. Our safety measures have improved medical outcomes and quality of life for people across the Sutter Health system. We’ve improved the health and well-being of moms and babies during childbirth by reducing early elective deliveries, avoiding unnecessary C-sections and decreasing episiotomies. As a result of our systemwide initiative, we’ve reduced deaths from sepsis and septic shock across our locations. From standardizing care delivery to using the latest evidence-based practices, we’re always looking for ways to keep you safe.
Sustainability
Protecting the environment helps keep people in our communities healthy. Sutter practices sustainability through conservation, energy reduction, recycling, green construction and more. Several of our locations are LEED certified, and we carry out LEED standards with practices like our recycling, water-efficient laundry equipment, native plant gardens and water-saving irrigation systems. Sutter is also a member of Practice Greenhealth, the leading organization for environmental solutions in the healthcare sector.
