With hundreds of obstetricians, certified nurse-midwives and specialists in high-risk pregnancy and neonatal care, the Sutter Health network teams provide compassionate, family-centered support during every stage of your pregnancy and birth. In 2017 alone, our birth specialists helped deliver more than 40,000 babies across Northern California.
Prenatal Care and Testing
Our team of OB/Gyns, certified nurse-midwives and high-risk doctors, called maternal-fetal medicine specialists, offer comprehensive support during your pregnancy. We provide the full spectrum of prenatal care, including diagnostic testing, advanced imaging and neonatal specialty care.
Labor and Delivery
Delivering in one of our hospitals? Get ready for baby by filling out your labor and birth preference form (PDF). Bring it with you to your next appointment to ensure your providers are mindful of your preferences. The form is also available in Spanish, Arabic and Traditional Chinese.

Newborn Intensive Care (NICU)
When things don’t go as planned, our nine Newborn Intensive Care Units (NICUs) provide 24-hour care by highly experienced, board-certified neonatologists and neonatal nursing teams. Our three Level III and one Level IV NICU care centers provide complex care and support.
Quality and Safety
Fourteen Sutter hospitals received recognition in 2019 for low NTSV C-section rates. Nine of the 14 hospitals received recognition for four consecutive years, based on 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 hospital discharge data.*
