Family Medicine Residency
Become an exemplary family physician and industry leader by administering person-centered care to a diverse population within an integrated healthcare organization.

Full-Spectrum Primary Care
Our stand-alone, community-based program offers one of four tracks. Spend your first year at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (SMCS), an award-winning quaternary acute care hospital. From there, you can continue in urban Sacramento, train in the suburban Davis community outpatient/inpatient setting or pursue one of our rural tracks: at the state-of-the-art, 52-bed Sutter Amador Hospital or 49-bed Sutter Coast Hospital.

Ryan Spielvogel, M.D., M.S.Our residents have a significant voice in fulfilling their educational goals, and our culture of collaboration, friendliness and respect make us the ideal Family Medicine home for you. Whether your special interest is rural healthcare or procedures or policy, our well-rounded program will help you reach your goals.

Family Medicine Centers
Work alongside other physicians, medical assistants and nurses who help shape modern medicine as you build and manage a panel of patients throughout your residency.
Volunteer/Mentor
