    Beating Kidney and Bladder Cancer

Two fist-sized organs on either side of your backbone, the kidneys filter excess water, salt, and waste from the blood. This waste material becomes urine, which is stored in the bladder until eliminated. Blood in the urine can be a sign of bladder or kidney cancer, though often is a symptom of something less threatening, such as a urinary tract infection. Men are more prone to kidney and bladder cancer than women. If your cancer is caught early, your outlook is very good.

In the Sutter Health network, our nine comprehensive cancer centers provide complete diagnostic and treatment services for bladder and kidney cancer, including surgery, chemotherapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and immunotherapy and biologics. Experts in the Sutter Health network are on the front lines of the war on cancer, providing you with access to new and established treatments, clinical trials and care that is both personal and personalized to the genetic makeup of your disease through targeted therapy.

To support you in your fight against cancer, we provide nurse navigators who can guide you through a complex array of clinical appointments and services. We offer financial, nutritional and psychological counseling as well as fitness classes for cancer rehabilitation, social workers, support groups and survivorship programs.
