• We offer 6 interactive webinars, each lasting a little over an hour. They are spaced throughout the 8 weeks, with no more than one webinar on any given week.
• Set aside an hour or two as you start the program. You’ll spend this time “onboarding”, requesting your CGM from us and picking it up from your local pharmacy, and generally taking stock of the online resources you have available to you.
• Take breaks along the way! This program should not add a lot of stress to your busy life. (If you can’t make a live webinar, we’ll make a recording of the presentation available to you)

The program’s Medical Director has currently selected the Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3 following a review of feasibility, cost to participant, and applicability to the Metabolic Wellness program.

No. This program will place a prescription for the CGM for all participants that wish to have one, at the pharmacy of their choice. Participants will coordinate payment and pick-up or delivery with the pharmacy of their choice.

Are you on Medicare or a government insurance plan? The Abbott Libre 3 will not be covered by your health insurance plan, and you will be charged by your pharmacy. Individuals can expect to be charged at most $190 for one month of sensors, though all are encouraged to locate best pricing and discounts by reaching out to your local pharmacies and visiting online prescription discount services. The program cannot help locate best pricing options.

Are you on a commercial or private insurance plan? The Abbott Libre 3 may be covered by your health insurance plan. Without coverage, most individuals pay $80 or less for one month of sensors.

Why is there a price difference? The device manufacturer, Abbott, offers a coupon at time of purchase. Under a federal law, that coupon cannot be applied for individuals on federal healthcare programs like Medicare or other government insurance plans. There may be other discounts available to them.

How many sensors do I need? Most participants learn all the essentials with one month of sensors. We will authorize additional refills if you ‘d like to extend your sensor experience.

No. This program gives you access to webinars, online content, and a live human being (your Program Guide) who can help answer your questions around the program; and the CGM, the app, and the technology; but cannot offer personal coaching, data interpretation or medical advice.

You don’t need to be a Sutter patient to participate.

This program is not a replacement for routine checkups with your PCP. Please do maintain scheduled visits.

Each sensor lasts 14 days, and your prescription includes 2 sensors.  You’re welcome to take a break in-between sensors, or space them out in a way that makes sense for you.

Only you will. Your data will not be shared with your employer or Sutter Health. CGM data is collected and stored by the device vendor’s platform; as such, it is subject to the vendor’s privacy policy and terms of use. Learn about their policy.

The program teaches participants to use the FreeStyle Libre 3 app. Participants are free to choose other apps to enhance their experience.

Yes. The program won’t place your prescription for you, but you will still get access to the full program experience.

Lab work isn’t a requirement, but can be useful. If you’d like to get baseline or post-program labs done, talk to your health care provider about ordering tests like a fasting lipid (aka cholesterol) panel, an A1C, fasting glucose, and any other labs that might be relevant to you (such as liver tests if you have fatty liver, and so on). We will not be ordering lab tests as part of this program and cannot offer individual advice about your lab results.

This program's for you if you are eager to find ways to optimize your blood sugar levels and other health metrics or just curious to see the real-time effects of your lifestyle on your health.

All Adults must be 18 years or older and residence in California at the time of program commencement is essential.

We've had many participants with prediabetes achieve normal blood glucose levels as a result of the program. We also help navigate you to other programs and services to support more intensive management of your overall health as needed. 

Want to live better with Type 2 diabetes? This program can help slow down the progression of Type 2 diabetes and in many cases we've had participants lower their overall glucose into the prediabetes or completely normal glucose range. 

Who cannot enroll in this program? We cannot enroll individuals with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetics on insulin, or individuals with CKD on dialysis.
