My Health Online Billing and Insurance Questions

Cost Estimates

  • At this time, only people covered by the following list of participating insurance plans may use the tool. People who are uninsured or have a managed care coverage can also use this tool. Medicare and Medicaid (Medi-Cal) estimates are not offered through the tool at this time. We plan to add more insurance plans in the future.

  • More than 200 outpatient services are included in the new tool. Hospital services are not offered through the online cost estimator at this time. Please call (855) 398-1639 for hospital service estimates.

  • Not at this time. Payment may be made at the time of service or through My Health Online after the visit is completed. We plan to add an online pre-payment feature in 2019.

  • While this tool will provide the most accurate estimate possible, other factors may affect the final billing statement. Factors such as insurance eligibility, additional services performed at time of visit or a change in your remaining deductible may change the cost of the service. A final statement will be provided after the service is performed.

  • Occasionally, benefits are not available from insurance plans for a variety of reasons. For instance, your insurance may not be updated in our system, or the insurance plan’s system may be unavailable. If your benefit information is not available when requesting an estimate, you can manually enter your information.

  • Because Sutter’s network extends across Northern California, care centers can have different operating expenses. This means costs for visits and procedures can fluctuate from location to location.

  • Navigate to Cost Estimates on the website or Estimates in the mobile app to start a new estimate or see saved estimates.

Insurance

  • If you have new insurance or an updated insurance card, you can submit an update request through My Health Online. Visit the Insurance Summary page, click the Add a Coverage button, and then follow the prompts. Be sure to bring your card to your next visit in case more information is needed.

  • You can submit an Insurance Update request through My Health Online. Visit the Insurance Summary page, click the Remove button next to the expired insurance, and then follow the prompts.

Payments and Online Statements

  • When you schedule an appointment you can authorize a future copay if your clinician offers online payments. Your credit card will not be charged until you check in for your appointment. If you cancel your appointment, your credit card will not be charged.

  • Not all clinician practices offer online copay payment at this time.

  • In most cases if there is an outstanding account balance, your payment will be applied to that account. If your account does not have an outstanding balance at the time of the refund, a refund will be issued back to the original credit card or by check.

  • To view billing statements or pay bills for family members, you must have Proxy Access to their record and be listed as a Guarantor on the patient's account. Please note that billing detail is limited when viewing patients between 12-17 years of age, per state law.

  • It can take a week or more to generate, print and mail a paper statement to your home. If you submit an online payment while your statement is processing, it will not be included in the paper statement. Your payment will still apply correctly and will be included in the next statement cycle. If you have questions or would like to confirm that your online payment was applied correctly, please contact us.

  • You can make an online payment using your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express credit card. You can pay on My Health Online or through Guest Pay. If you have questions about payment assistance, learn more about Financial Assistance resources at Sutter.

  • In most cases, you can set up a Payment Plan through My Health Online. To get started, open the View / Pay / Print Bill function from the menu. There you will see your accounts / balances listed. If you have a qualifying balance, you can click the Set Up Payment Plan button to start setting up a payment plan. The following screens will allow you to select a payment amount, method, and date to cover your balance.
