SEBMG’s Sutter Scholarship for Success

The Sutter Scholarship for Success, established by Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) in 2020, supports the continuing education of Alameda and Contra Costa County students. Sponsored by Sutter Health's Philanthropy Grants and Disbursement Program, this scholarship is intended to help local students become compassionate, responsible leaders in healthcare. Scholarships are awarded annually and are based on competitive review.

We will award $5,000 scholarships to undergraduate students in Alameda and Contra Costa counties who are planning a career as a physician (M.D. or D.O.), advanced practice clinician (P.A. or N.P.), nurse (R.N. or L.V.N.), or an allied health professional.
The scholarship will be disbursed directly to the students to be used in their area of greatest need.

Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (PAFMG) Annual Pre-Med Scholarship Awards

Did you know that our doctors award annual scholarships to deserving high school students as part of our long-term commitment to supporting future generations of doctors?

Each year, the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (PAFMG) awards Pre-Med Scholarships to local high school seniors who will attend a four-year college and plan to pursue careers as doctors. The scholarship was started by Richard Babb, M.D., who was a gastroenterologist at PAMF’s Palo Alto Clinic. Since Dr. Babb started the program in 1993, we have awarded more than 70 scholarships to local students.

Scholarships are up to $30,000, paid out over five years: four years of an undergraduate university and the first year of medical school.

The Application Cycle for 2025 is now closed.

(Underrepresented in Medicine) URiM

The program offers financial assistance to support qualified 4th-year U.S. medical students from underrepresented in medicine (UIM) backgrounds who are interested in pursuing a career in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), individuals from UIM groups are those from populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their representation in the general population.
